Being a Wizard101 UK fansite is a little bit different than being official in other areas. Here’s what you need to know.
1. Make sure you have original Wizard101 UK content. Examples: Covering a Wizard101 UK event, writing about the differences in the community, sharing an inside look at a news update
2. Try to offer something special to the community. Examples: Information database, original features, unique posts
3. Be sure that your fansite includes “Copyright by KingsIsle, Published by Gameforge” at the bottom of the page. Examples: Take a look at my attribution
4. Pay attention to the starting and ending days of the submission time. Failure to follow this deadline will dismiss your chances.
5. The content has to follow the Terms and Conditions – check those out before submitting. Take the time to verify that you follow all of the rules.
6. No forums, Facebook pages, or brand-new sites will be accepted, each for their own reason. Make sure you’re dedicated to keeping up with things. Examples: posting news, visiting the official boards
7. Unlike with Wizard101 and Pirate101, you can’t simply sit back and write. You’ll also be expected to take part in community events. Of course there will be times you can’t make, but attend the ones that you can. Examples: school celebrations, holiday parties
8. You’ll have an advantage over other applicants if you’re over 18, have your own page without advertisements, and are willing to share personal information (only with the CM, of course).
9. Understand that theorycrafting and overall game posts can pertain to both Wizard101 and Wizard101 UK, while others cannot. Examples: news, pack releases
10. It all sounds pretty tough to manage, but the truth is that the Wizard101 UK community is all very close and always here to lend a hand. If you have any questions, you can ask me or Emy on the UK Boards. She really is fantastic, and she’ll always respond to you.
Like I said, if you've got any questions feel free to ask. The Wizard101 UK community Is very special, and whether or not you become official, we’ll embrace you fully.
If you do apply and don’t make it this time around, don’t be discouraged. Remember, fansite applications will open up again in the future. Plus, the downtime will give you an opportunity to build content for your website.
Thanks for reading, and see you in the Spiral!
Well said Jason. I hope that those who apply take a look at your helpful tips and take it to heart so they can improve their chances.
