Happy New Year to all! As another year of Wizard and Pirate kicks off, it's time to start things right in the community. To celebrate, I've got a little bit of a surprise that's going to mean you want to keep an eye on Swordroll's Blog over the next week. But first, let's take a look back at this past year.
2014: A Look Back
Though only 93 posts were published in 2014, this has been one of my favorite years in terms of post content. There's been a lot of interesting stuff, so let's take a quick look back. All post titles are linked.
Theorycrafting
I do love my theorycrafting. I started the year off with one called Valencian Politics, the Armada, and the Grand Design which discussed still-relevant Toymaker theories. A little more recently, I published English Bill, Old Cob, and the Before Time as a Wizard101-Pirate101 combination post discussing the new Duck of Death puppet show and how they were related. That theory was expanded on in my 500th post, H.P. Lovecraft's Dreamland and the Third Arc. One of my favorite theories of all is the True Origins of Astral Magic. One other was Lost in Translation: The Hole in the Pirate101 Plot.
Guides
Sometimes you don't realize that blogs can have a lot of guides hidden in posts. This was particularly true this year. When Fishing came online in the Test Realm, I posted the Fish School, Location, XP, and Tank Size Guide along with the Epic Fish Hunting Guide and the Fishing Ranks and Badges Guide.
In the world of Pirate, Moo Manchu's Tower was probably the largest update this year, and seeing that so many were having trouble finding what dropped there, I posted the Moo Manchu Nefarious Tower Drop Guide.
Wizard101 continued to surprise us with new features, and I posted the Advanced Castle Building Guide, Skeleton Keys Guide, and the KingsIsle Bundle Buyers' Guide, which is a unique one.
Other Posts
January of this year was when the Captain Swing gear was discovered, which I was fascinated with, so I did a Pirate101 Highlight on the gear. In February, it was revealed that I'd secretly been playing a Privateer in The Privateer Project! In March, I noticed how much the areas in Wizard had improved and showed examples in Wizard101 Environments Through the Years. April was a lot of fun with a group of bloggers posting about some head-patting and belly-rubbing with It's Only Weird if it Doesn't Work. In May, I had a really fantastic surprise party in Pirate101 for my Third Blogoversary.
Outside Swordroll's Blog
I couldn't possibly cover every amazing blog post out there, but I will share a few unofficial blogs that you may or may not have seen that are worth taking a look at:
"Burst Fire" Post Event
Beginning today and over a five-day period, I'll be doing a "Burst Fire" of posts. Each of the five days, I'm posting two new posts of the same quality content, just in a shorter time period. That's lots of reading material for you. This event begins today on January 2, and continues until Thursday, January 8.
What to Look Forward To
Fourteen posts creates a lot of potential, and I'll be doing a little bit of everyone, including my first almost-guest-post. I'll also be sharing more art with you as well as theorycrafting and a few new guides. Stay tuned!
What was your favorite part of 2014?
Thanks for reading and see you in the Spiral! Credits: Thanks to Calamity and Misty for helping me get the pictures making up the first up one in this post.
It's so hard to pick a favorite as they all are so good. A good memorable one is the April Fool's one since it was done so hysterically and was such a fabulous team effort. This one will be bookmarked for sure with all the great links in it. Thank you for all the hard work you do for us gamers. <3
