A popular piece of gear among end-game wizards is their hat from the Exalted Krokopatra Duel. These hats rival, and in some cases beat, the Darkmoor offerings. Take a look at what the Exalted version of Krokopatra has to offer!
Exalted Krokopatra
This boss shows up in the Krokopatra Exalted Duel in the Crown Shop for 500 crowns. Be careful when purchasing this item - don't confuse it with the Krokopatra Master Duel, also available in the Crown Shop. It is also dropped by many end-world bosses. Check out a list on the Wiki here.
Hat Drops
Krokopatra drops a variety of items unique to the Exalted Duel, but the one most wizards farm for is the hat. Take a look at the hats this boss offers for each school below.
Why the Hats?
Krokopatra drops a variety of unique items, but the hats are really the only ones worth noting, and I want to focus on noteworthy gear, not other things that no one farms for. When Wizard101 started restructuring the stats on their gear, it made robes and some other items far less desirable. Krokopatra's hats maintain their offensive qualities without sacrificing resistance and other stats.
The nice thing about farming these exalted dungeons is that it appears that you can only get gear which you can use. That means you could get jewels or various items, but if you do get a gear drop, it's going to be universal or school-specific for you, which is handy.
Darkmoor Comparisons
Take a quick look at how the Exalted Krokopatra hats compare to the best Darkmoor hats. One of the things I discuss below is that they're very close in stats, and sometimes better. Why They Matter
Over the course of this month, I'll be doing a sort of "Significant Gear Series" that covers the most important sets and items that have defined where wizards farm, how they build their setups, and more. This will be an opportunity to compare stats and discuss structure. We'll cover everything from Waterworks to Darkmoor to some of the more recent sets. In the future, we may go further back.
The Krokopatra hats, like the Exalted Rattlebones Robes, were the first real alternatives to Darkmoor gear. This was huge, because Darkmoor gear was clearly the new Waterworks set, and Waterworks remained, in large part, to be the best gear for forty levels after its release. Even now, some high-level wizards still use it if they haven't farmed for a replacement. It's so good that the side content is still worth stopping to do even wizards can expect to be farming Darkmoor when they hit level 100.
Now, wizards who didn't want to or didn't have the time or teams to complete Darkmoor could actually have a shot at some gear on the same level. In some cases, it could be argued that these hats are better than their Darkmoor alternatives. You can take a look at the comparisons in the tabs above and decide for yourself.
For me, this was a great step forward. Exalted Krokopatra is not easy, and it costs 500 crowns per run (though if you get four wizards to buy one each, you can each run four times for 500 crowns a piece). She's still a cheating boss designed for exalted wizards. However, she's much more manageable than Darkmoor. Now, people who can't dedicate a big block of time to a long dungeon can farm. Furthermore, Wizard101 has always had a problem with gear diversity, and the Exalted Duels were one of the first things that really started to change up gear sets. Although the gear isn't distinctly different or favorable for different reasons, the fact that the stats are comparable and that alternatives to a "best set" are being offered was and is a big step forward. I'm hoping to see more of it!
Do you use your Exalted Krokopatra hat?
Thanks for reading and see you in the Spiral!
