The Rattlebones Exalted Duel was released along with Krokopatra, and offered some great hat alternatives to Darkmoor. This was initially one of the more challenging fights, but careful study of the cheats made Rattlebones quite manageable. Let's take a look at his drops and their significance.
Exalted Rattlebones
This boss shows up in the Rattlebones Exalted Duel in the Crown Shop for 500 crowns. Be careful when purchasing this item - don't confuse it with the Rattlebones Master Duel, also available in the Crown Shop. It is also dropped by many end-world bosses, though the easiest to farm is the original Rattlebones. Check out a list on the Wiki here.
Robe Drops
The most significant drops from Rattlebones are his robes. Here's a look at the options that the boss has to offer.
Why the Robes?
Rattlebones drops a variety of items, but the ones that are really of note are his robes. This is due to the fact that their stats are easily comparable to tier one Malistaire gear from the Graveyard in Darkmoor. Other items not only have inferior stats in most cases, but also have never really caught on as viable gear options for max-level wizards.
Darkmoor Comparisons
Take a quick look at how the Exalted Rattlebones robes compare to the best Darkmoor robes. One of the things I discuss below is that they're very close in stats, and sometimes better.
Why They Matter
Over the course of this month, I'll be doing a sort of "Significant Gear Series" that covers the most important sets and items that have defined where wizards farm, how they build their setups, and more. This will be an opportunity to compare stats and discuss structure. We'll cover everything from Waterworks to Darkmoor to some of the more recent sets. In the future, we may go further back.
As I discussed with Krokopatra, the release of the Exalted Duels marked the first real opportunity for an alternative to Darkmoor gear. Unlike with Krokopatra hats, these aren't just a matter of stats. Some people are looking at cards, too. Generally, whichever robe you get first between Malistaire the Undying and Exalted Rattlebones is the one you'll use. However, if you have both or lots of opportunities to farm both fights, you might have a choice to make. The stats are comparable, but the Rattlebones robe does offer the critical global for whatever school the robe is for (the universal one offers the Life healing global). This could make the Rattlebones robe the better option depending on your play style.
While Aegis and Indemnity have little effect on this battle, some dispels can prevent Rattlebones from swapping Feints and thus allow for pretty big hits. The boss has just over 30,000 health, so one good attack should do it. And that should be nothing after the Storm Titan.
Do you use your Rattlebones robe?
